Coronated as the calf of Barnacles (SEAK-2070) in 2009, this male humpback is renown in southeast Alaska as a soloist hunter of herring. Kelp is known well whale watchers of Auke Bay, and is the only adult in the Juneau Flukes catalogue to frequent the feeding ground of his calfhood. 2025 sparked another season where he was seen feeding with his mother on the same patches of fish!
