This male humpback has made an abode of naturalists’ minds and harbors alike. Born to Barnacles in 2009, Kelp has crossed my camera lens several times in Juneau and Maui. I have seen him lunge upon nacreous schools of shimmering herring, drift in slumber as eagles drifted overhead, and posture with rivals in competition groups.
