Fluke Sculptures
This sculpture is hand carved and painted in likeness to Rune’s 2013 Calf, one the humpbacks who revisit Stellwagen Bank. The white scars in the midsection resemble a flying saucer, vapor trail, and even a tractor beam that appeared a couple years following his discovery.
One peculiar oddity in my life is that I share my name with Richard M Dolan the ufologist, and for years I have received misplaced correspondence from alien abductees. My counterpart is interested in the societal response to disclosure while I ponder the cultural shift from learning to speak with whale or other sentient animals.
