Fluke Sculptures
First encountered in the Gulf of Maine in 1986, the humpback whale Veteran is adorned with scars that suggest encounters with orcas a possibly even entanglement. This female survived her traumas to produce a calf in 2005, but her narrative is otherwise mysterious, but for her battle-worn fluke.
