Whaleheads
An articulated totem to Chunk, a humpback whale I met amidst a foggy 2015 morning on Stellwagen Bank. This creature would later be witnessed in June of 2024, hunting fish with another whale off Cape Elizabeth, Maine. She became ensnared in a cobweb of fishing net, and drowned in spite of a heroic response by fishermen and officials. Chunk’s 40 ton carcass was hoisted ashore, in hopes that her skeleton will be displayed as a warning to the collateral of industry.
