A humpback whale breaches in the mercury doldrums of Active Pass, a strait of Pacific brine flowing through British Columbia. This combustive behavior is sometimes observed by solitary wanderers, perhaps as an appeal to kin nearby. This tenacious bout clashes with the tranquility of a homestead in the background.
